This is a special year for the West Indian community in Derby ; the 60th Anniversary of the formation of the West Indian Community Association and the 40th year of the colourful Caribbean Carnival.
With floats and dancers from different parts of the UK, the parade started at Pear Tree school in Normanton and then made its way along Pear Tree Road, Normanton Road, into the town centre and then to Market Place. A crowd had already gathered around an arena near to the QUAD and were waiting patiently for the dancers to arrive. Each of the troops had 5 minutes in front of the audience to show off their elaborate costumes, and entertain them with their dancing. Thankfully the weather was very favourable and brought the crowds out who enjoyed the full colour and glamour of the occasion.
